She4Sea Dissemination Event at Barcelona Nautical School – Spain

On April 28, 2025, the Barcelona Nautical School hosted the national She4Sea event in Spain, gathering over 30 professionals—primarily women—active in the maritime sector. The event was opened by Dean Agustín Martín Mallofré and She4Sea Coordinator Germán de Melo, who emphasized the project’s role in promoting women’s employability and inclusion in the blue economy

The She4Sea platform was presented in detail, showcasing its competency framework, profiling tool, and training modules tailored to maritime transport, fisheries, and tourism. Participants also engaged in discussions about sectoral gender imbalances, including the fact that women make up only 2% of the maritime workforce and hold just 5% of leadership roles, with a 40% wage gap. The interactive format encouraged dialogue on how to reduce barriers and stereotypes that continue to limit women’s professional visibility in the sector.
